Peter Monroe
Peter Monroe is a lawyer, real estate broker and now venture capitalist who lives in the Tampa Bay area. Monroe, who was the former Chairman of the Resolution Trust Corporation (RTC) Oversight Board and Chief Operating Officer of the FHA, recently launched with several colleagues a venture capital fund called Wilherst Oxford (Wilherst). Drawing upon his past government service as well as his 20 year real estate development and sales experience, Monroe has laid out a business plan for Wilherst which begins with investment in residential REO (real estate owned) in the inner cities, then taking that program nationwide. It will be complemented with a program aimed at restructuring mortgages in default so that homeowners are able to remain in their homes. As economic events continue to unfold, Wilherst will cross product lines into the purchase of income properties on a large scale—beginning with the retail sector where Monroe has extensive and successful experience as both a developer and a broker.
