P Monroe

Peter Monroe ran for U.S. Senate in the 2006 Florida primary against Katherine Harris. While losing to Harris, Monroe was endorsed by a number of major newspapers such as the South Florida Sun Sentinel, the Palm Beach Post, the Daytona News Journal and the Jacksonville Times Union.

He ran on a “Progressive Conservative” platform and advocated a number of issues that are now gaining favor—some of them in both parties with all issues revolving around the central theme of conserving our country for future generations: concern for global warning and reduction of dependence on foreign oil, reduction of the $ 9 trillion federal debt with over $2 trillion held in foreign coffers, inventing a universal health care system, solving the Social Security crisis brought on by the dramatic increase in the ratio of seniors to younger workers, recalculating the costs to future generations of the costs and benefits of the Iraq war; and the importance of separation of Church and State.

More recently Peter Monroe has written about the importance of federal casualty reinsurance to many more states than just Florida, the connection between “carried interest” capital gains tax treatment for venture and real estate firms (versus hedge and equity funds) and economic growth and the dangers to the Republican Party of not honoring the American tradition of the separation of Church and State.
